Artsy Fartsy

So, last night Jas and I got dolled up and hit the town.My BFF was having a set of angel wings she made (these guys on steroids) at an art event called "Flight". She had been asked to join the event on a whim, and in the group of all of the artist featured- (and maybe I'm just biased) I thought that her piece was the most impressive.
There was obviously a whole "wings" theme- the concept was that these models wearing wings(which Alyshia also made) would carry the art down the stairs, have it float through the audience and then it was carried up to another level of the complex where it was displayed for proper viewing. The event organizer has a friend who composes music that expresses the feeling of the art pieces, and he was joined by a women who sang along. I know what you are thinking. And we felt the same way. (snicker) (The highlight of my night was looking over at Jas and seeing the faces he was making, and everytime I would catch his eye, he'd do the " 'sup'" head bob and then smirk. SO not his scene! Such a trooper!)
So once all of the art had been flown through and the music wrapped up, we went to the atrium and had a chance to really check out the pieces. Some were really amazing. There was an artist that had made several ceramic masks- which were incrediably detailed when you looked at them up close. Lysh said the funniest thing was the artist makes them and then takes them to the ceramic-painting- party place to have them fired! It cracked me up to think of these dark, abstract masks hardening next to a "Happy 1st Birthday" plate and a Winner The Pooh piggie bank! I guess you gotta do what ya gotta do!
It was nice to get out, to be a part of the underground art scene for a night, and I would have happily endured 2,000 hours of Artsy-fartsy-ness for my best friend. So many great things are happening for her, and I'm happy to get to share in some of the excitment!

Well, don't you two look nice?? I'd have endured 2000 hours of that kind of stuff too if it meant being able to concentrate without kids around! Glad you got a night out, even if it wasn't his thing!! Sorry I didn't call the other night, I was trying to get through a conversation with a SnapFish representative that I could barely understand. Needles to say it took 5 minutes alone for her to get my e-mail address right! This weekend...OK?

Thank you!!! You are the most wonderful BF a girl could ask for!
I am just sad that you two missed the after party. :)

Couldn't have done it without you, needed your sound advice, wisdom, and to have you stand by me and smile!

Love you sweet friend!
